The 1-2nd Graders today went back in history to the early era of Manitowoc WI. Several miles west of Manitowoc Lutheran High School is Pinecrest Village, with a train (engine, flatcar, and caboose), church, school, town hall, home(s), firehouse, smokehouse, bank, home goods & apothecary, milk house, butcher, and more!
The children enjoyed touring several of the above listed buildings in the morning. Pinecrest also had hosts in these buildings who walked us through the decor and customs of the time and how the place would be used.
After lunch we enjoyed a half day of old time…school! The kids did math, reading/spelling, and art, with some recess and games mixed in-between.
We were blessed with a wonderful sunny day…and some ice cream to finish the day!
