Kindergarten: The Five Senses

The Kindergartners recently finished a science unit on the 5 senses. Through the usage of hands on activities, writing opportunities, children’s literature, group discussions, and videos, students explored the use of each sense. Students were introduced to new vocabulary when discussing the parts of their eyes and ears. They also practiced using describing words when guessing mystery touch and feel objects, listening for sounds, and taste-testing salty, sweet, sour, and bitter foods. Throughout this unit, students also practiced writing skills by creating their own books. Students completed a provided sentence, such as “I can feel the…” and then drew a picture to go with it!

Throughout each lesson, students gained an even greater appreciation for the 5 senses that God has given them! How incredible it is that we can see, hear, taste, feel, and smell the world around us!
