Pajama Day in Grades 1-2

On Wednesday, January 29, the students in grades 1-2 enjoyed their special class Pajama Day! Besides getting to wear their pajamas to school, they had special classes, as well. In writing class, classmates recorded the names of friends whose pajamas fit specific details: pajamas with feet, pajamas with buttons, pajamas with stripes or polka dots, and more. In math class, students used addition and subtraction facts together with a secret code to solve silly riddles. “What happened to the man who plugged his electric blanket into the toaster? He kept popping out of bed!” In reading, we read a nonfiction book about the interesting and unique ways that some animals sleep- upside down, in the water, standing up, and even with only half of their brain actually asleep! The children also got to watch an episode of “Bananas in Pajamas.” The first and second graders earned this special day by working together to create and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. Completing school work in a timely manner, staying on-task, and encouraging classmates were some of the things that contributed toward earning their class reward.
