Kindergarten Habitat Projects

Feb 12th, 2020 | By: Molly Meitner

The kindergarteners recently finished up a science unit on animal habitats. Together we learned about the location, climate, and animals that live in arctic, rainforest, ocean, and desert habitats. Students then picked their favorite habitat and built their own diorama! Before they began, they designed their habitats on paper. They then sketched out on their plan on their boxes and painted their backgrounds. They molded their own animals out of clay and painted them, paying close attention to details. Once students completed their project, they used strong speaking skills to share what they learned with their classmates! While friends were sharing, the kindergarteners did an awesome job using respectful listening ears and asking thoughtful questions of their peers such as, “Why did you pick the ocean habitat for your project?” or comments like, “I really like the details on your animals!”
