What is in it for me? This is the question our world asks before it lifts a finger for anyone else. I should receive special compensation, recognition, and commendation for anything I do, no matter how small. Yet we pray in the Lord’s Prayer: yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Even if we are far more generous than others, if we suffer more than others, if we live holier lives and forgive more than anyone here would expect, we are still just doing our duty. Jesus teaches us today that “The Lord’s Servants Give Him the Glory”. Our sermon is based on Luke 17.
