Because all of us are sinful from birth, and Jesus invites the little children to come to him and his kingdom, and he promises new life and washing from sins in baptism, we offer baptism for little children. We partner with parents to remind their children of their baptism, its blessings, and its power for Christian living.
Every six months until a child is four years old, we provide information for parents of young ones. These materials equip parents with tips and strategies to teach their children about Jesus, his love, and his Word.
During the school year from 9:15 - 10:15 on Sunday mornings, children from Preschool through 8th grade can come and sing songs, learn Bible stories, and take Bible passages to heart. The Sunday School children sing for worship a few times throughout the year. The Christmas Service in December is a highlight.
St. Paul’s offers catechism classes for 7th-8th graders who attend our day school or a public school. We partner with parents to give the children a foundation in the main teachings of the Scriptures using Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. Upon the successful completion of the class, children are eligible for the rite of confirmation, where they promise faithfulness to Jesus and his Word, frequent use of the Gospel in Word and Sacrament, and faithfulness in a life of repentance.
Mothers bring their young children once a week for the children to play and the moms build Christian friendships. Some weeks the children stay with caring volunteers while the moms gather for Bible study. Other weeks, the mamas help the children with crafts, activities, or reading. The general meeting calendar is published to the church calendar page, but there is a more detailed calendar of events available upon request.
Each group meets monthly for a devotion from God’s Word, learning about God’s creation, and practicing life skills. Boys gain exposure to things such as biking, hiking, camping, archery, cooking, crafts, and good citizenship. Girls gain exposure to things such as hiking, farming, sewing, caroling, cooking, and floral arranging. The annual pine car derby is a highlight for each group.
Our elementary school exists to partner with parents in offering Christian education to children in Preschool through 8th grade. All subjects are taught from a Biblical worldview. Students also have opportunities to develop and use their God-given talents in music, athletics, and drama.
